On November 13, 2007, the Minister of Finance (Canada) tabled a Notice of Ways & Means motion dealing with proposed amendments to Canada’s tax laws that were originally announced in connection with the March 2007 Federal Budget. Included in this motion is a provision that will eliminate non-resident withholding tax on interest payments after 2007 by a Canadian resident to an arm’s length non-resident of Canada.
