Shipping News From Ottawa: A New Era of Hazardous Waste Controls

The federal government is carrying out ambitious plans to overhaul its hazardous waste shipping regime. August 15, 2002 marked the beginning of a new era. This is when the new ‘clear language’ draft of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations (TDGR) were enacted together with two regulations under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA 1999). Other significant changes are expected within the year. This article provides a roadmap to the changes.
