The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is a collection of U.S. government regulations controlling the export and import of defence-related articles and services that are on the U.S. Munitions List.  The U.S. denies the export and import of defence articles and services destined to or originating in countries with which it maintains an arms embargo, including Burma, China, Haiti, Liberia, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, Cote d'Ivoire, Zimbabwe and Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as "countries of concern," including Cuba, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, North Korea, Balkans, Belarus, Iraq, Afghanistan and Venezuela among others.
