Focus On Corporate Governance - Majority Voting

In this issue, we discuss "majority voting" as recommended by the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance. A number of Canadian corporations are replacing plurality voting, the traditional system for electing directors, with majority voting, a system intended to allow shareholders to participate more effectively in the election of directors. At the same time, majority voting provides the board with the flexibility to act in the best interest of the corporation.
