As the players in Canada's "mainstream" economy expand their requirements for new resources, markets and ideas and as the aboriginal communities of this country search for increased economic self-sufficiency, aboriginal and "non-aboriginal" entities are increasingly coming together as business partners. It can be difficult, often prickly job to bring two independent businesses together in a joint venture; this task is made no less easy when the parties are on opposite sides of a vast culture divide.
