On November 1, 2004, Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act came into force. This new legislation deals specifically with personal health information and creates rights and obligations which affect everyone in Ontario. It is particularly targeted towards doctors, nurses, hospitals, ambulance services, pharmacies, long term care homes, and other health care workers and facilities as defined in the Act.
