Government Proposes Significant Changes to Canada's
Competition Act

On November 2, 2004, the Government of Canada tabled its latest round of proposed legislative amendments to the Competition Act in the House of Commons. Bill C-19, if passed substantially unamended, will de-criminalize some conduct and will dramatically change the sanctions for certain reviewable (non-criminal) anti-competitive conduct.
