An increasing number of cases rendered in Québec during the past few years bear witness to the popularity of class actions as a preferred tool for the enforcement of the Consumer Protection Act (“C.P.A.”), particularly in the realm of advertising. As such, this is hardly surprising given the exponential impact class actions provide for the remedial objectives of the C.P.A. However, this is not the only reason explaining this sudden propensity for collective consumer activism.
