This paper focuses on the fundamentals and requirements of the formation of the landlord and tenant relationship in British Columbia, the nature of the leasehold relationship at law and key concepts that arise in the creation of any lease. While many of the concepts discussed in this paper are not restricted to any particular jurisdiction, this paper focuses primarily on commercial leasing practices in British Columbia.
