On June 2, 2010, the federal government introduced into Parliament Bill C 32, the Copyright Modernization Act (the CMA), which contains proposed amendments to the Copyright Act (the Act). Many believe that the CMA is long overdue, given twenty‐first century technological advancements, the fact that Canada has not yet ratified two 1996 Internet copyright treaties (the WIPO Treaties), and the fact that the Act has not been significantly revised since 1997.
