Tom practises litigation and dispute resolution and has done so for over 20 years. He has extensive experience in a broad range of commercial and energy related matters and has appeared before numerous administrative boards, all levels of Court in Alberta and the Federal Court of Canada. Tom is the co-chair of FMC’s National ADR practice group. He has undergone extensive training in negotiation and alternative dispute resolution and has participated as counsel in numerous mediations, arbitrations and other forms of dispute resolution.

Defending a consultant against claims of negligence in a $60 million claim arising from the construction of a large condominium complex in Fort McMurray, Alberta
Conducting a successful arbitration of a shareholders dispute in closely held corporation with significant assets
Numerous retainers dealing with pollution-related disputes acting on behalf of alleged polluters, successors and victims
Prosecuting claims, defending counterclaim and concluding settlement in a complex, long running and fractious dispute over beneficial ownership of a Calgary hospitality establishment and associated real estate
Advising a multi-national oil and gas company of force majeure rights and obligations arising from multiple pipeline service disruptions
