Craig T. McDougall LL.B.(with Distinction), B.A. (Hons.) (First Class Hons.), Partner

Craig is a Partner in FMC Edmonton’s Commercial Practice Group, assisting clients with their business needs. He works closely with clients to identify and resolve issues that arise with respect to their businesses including those in the information technology, communications technology, software, banking, investment management, health, oil & gas and pipelines industries.  

Craig negotiates and drafts various types of agreements, including sales and procurement agreements; IT and software licensing and implementation agreements; intellectual property licenses, distribution and reseller agreements; OEM agreements; services and consulting agreements; data and telecommunications agreements, and other commercial agreements. He also represents clients and provides advice in mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures on intellectual property and technology related matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Craig practised in California with one of Silicon Valley’s most prominent technology law firms, and his experience included a secondment to Cisco Systems, Inc. Before that, Craig was in-house counsel with TELUS Corporation, Canada’s second largest telecommunications company, which included supporting TELUS’ Strategic Alliance Management group. Craig’s in-house experience and experience across numerous industries allows him to provide practical advice in a timely and efficient manner.

Craig’s unique combination of in-house experience at technology and telecommunications companies such as TELUS and Cisco, combined with the experience of practising in the technology hotbed of Silicon Valley, have provided him with extensive industry and legal experience in the technology field.
