Allan A. Mass has over 35 years’ experience in financing, and mergers and acquisitions. He has participated in a wide variety of commercial transactions including loan syndications, secured and unsecured financings, securitizations, project financings, public-private partnerships, and mergers and acquisitions of businesses.

Allan was an adjunct professor in the Faculty of Law at McGill University from 1977 to 1991, where he lectured on obligations and security in property. He was also the Executive Editor of the McGill Law Journal in 1971. He has published articles on secured lending and has appeared as a lecturer and panelist at conferences on matters of Québec law. Allan was a founding director of the Canadian Turnaround Management Association and is a director and Vice-President of the Quebec Writers’ Federation and a number of other private and non-profit corporations. He also served as a director of Spar Aerospace Inc. prior to its privatization.

Allan was the managing partner of the Montréal office from 1980 to 1983 and from 2001 to 2004.

Counsel to the arranger/agent and purchasers on a $50 million private placement of First Mortgage Bonds by Maritime Electric Company, Limited
Acted for a major Canadian bank and syndicate of lenders in connection with the financing of the acquisition of a full-service regional cable and telecommunications provider, and in connection with the financing and refinancing of one of its operating subsidiaries, a global leader with operating companies in numerous media-related businesses
Acted for lenders and borrowers on numerous syndicated loans and banking facilities, and in numerous merger and acquisition transactions
Acted as legal counsel to a syndicate of lenders led by Royal Bank of Canada in the provision of various credit facilities in the aggregate amount of $3.255 billion made available to Quebecor Inc. and Quebecor Media Inc. as well as the ongoing replacements, restatements and renewals thereof
