Pierre Lortie is Senior Business Advisor at Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, a major law firm recognized as a leader in business related legal matters across Canada. He is also the Representative of the Public Authorities with regard to the McGill University Health Center (MUHC), the Centre hospitalier universitaire de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) and the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Québec (CHUQ) modernization projects. Mr. Lortie is a Director of Group Canam, Dynaplas and Altair Nanotechnologies, Inc., Special Investor for CAI & Partners Corporation and Chairman of the Advisory Board (Quebec) of Consolidated Thompson Inc.
He has served as Chairman of the Montreal Demerger Transition Committee from its inception on June 21, 2004 to the end of the mandate on December 31, 2005.
He retired from Bombardier in December 2003 where he had served as President and COO of Bombardier Transportation; President and COO of Bombardier Capital; President and COO of Bombardier International; and President of Bombardier Aerospace, Regional Aircraft. He also served as Chairman of Canada’s Royal Commission on Electoral Reform and Party Financing. He has been Chairman, President and CEO of Provigo Inc.; President and CEO of the Montreal Stock Exchange and a Senior Partner of Secor Inc.
Pierre Lortie is President of the Canadian Ditchley Foundation. He is a member of the Transportation Center Business Advisory Committee of Northwestern University (Chicago) and of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
Mr. Lortie has held several government appointments. He has been a representative of the Prime Minister of Canada on the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) from 1999-2003. In the technology field, he has been Chairman of the Centre for Information Technology Innovation and Vice Chairman of Canada’s National Advisory Board on Science and Technology in 1987 – 1990.
He received an M.B.A. with honors from the University of Chicago, a licence in Applied Economics from the Université Louvain, Belgium and a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences (Engineering Physics) from Université Laval, Canada. He has been awarded a Doctorate Honoris Causa in Civil Law from Bishop’s University. He received his certification from the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors.
Mr. Lortie was appointed member of the Order of Canada in 2001.
