Kate Broer LL.B., B.A. (Hons.), Partner

Kate practises in the area of corporate/commercial litigation with a particular focus on securities and investment dealer-related litigation, regulatory compliance matters and products liability.

Kate works closely with clients in the securities industry, providing them with valued litigation and regulatory advice in all aspects of their business including operations, employee-related matters and professional liability. She has represented a number of national securities and mutual fund dealers and brokers in court proceedings as well as before the Investment Dealers Association, the Mutual Fund Dealers Association and at Securities Commissions across Canada. She is the Toronto Co-Lead for the firm’s National Securities Litigation Group.

Kate also handles product liability matters for clients in a variety of industries, including construction and food products and handling. In this context, she has litigated a number of complex, multi-party disputes involving complicated expert evidence in a range of areas from building science and structural engineering to organic chemistry.

Kate is the Co-Chair of FMC's National Diversity and Inclusion Initiative. FMC was recently named one of Canada's Best Employers for New Canadians.
