FMC lawyer Aaron Milrad authors report that results in introduction of new legislation

March 27 2007 - Toronto
New legislation was introduced on March 22 that, if passed, will spur the growth of arts industries in Ontario. The legislation results from the Report on the Socio-Economic Status of the Artist in Ontario in the 21st Century, prepared for the Minister's Advisory Council for Arts and Culture by a subcommittee chaired by FMC Intellectual Property lawyer Aaron Milrad. The report’s recommendations are intended to help the industry grow in Ontario by permitting income averaging, making grants tax-free, and providing better benefits, including housing assistance, for artists. The report is the result of almost two years of deliberations engaging over 4,000 stakeholders.
