Margot Patterson joins FMC’s Communications, Intellectual Property and Entertainment | Sports | Media Groups

Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (FMC), one of Canada’s leading business and litigation law firms, announced today that Margot Patterson has joined the firm’s Ottawa office in the Communications, Intellectual Property, and Entertainment | Sports | Media Groups.

With more than 10 years’ experience, Ms. Patterson has considerable expertise in advocating and advising on behalf of regulated businesses in the areas of communications and copyright, and on sophisticated legal and policy matters. Prior to joining FMC, Ms. Patterson was General Counsel and Vice-President, Legal Affairs for the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB). Ms. Patterson’s responsibilities included litigation on behalf of the CAB’s membership, advocating for legislative reform to support broadcasters’ requirements as regulated businesses, and managing legal and policy matters before federal tribunals and agencies, including the Copyright Board of Canada, and the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission.

In addition to her law degree, she holds a Master of Public Administration from Queen’s University School of Policy Studies.
