On November 30, 2011, Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (FMC), one of Canada’s leading business and litigation law firms, hosted the inaugural CPD Bootcamp in the Toronto office.
The CPD Bootcamp was a one-day program designed exclusively for corporate counsel, legal department managers and general counsel. This comprehensive program addressed recent developments and best practices in areas pertinent to in-house counsel. Workshops were available in-person and online and included the following topics:
- Diversity Leadership Workshop
- Early Warning Signs of Insolvency
- Partnership Fundamentals
- Risk Management for In-House Counsel
-
Competition Act and the Investment Canada Act
- Overview of Bankruptcy/Insolvency
- Tax and Privilege: A Primer
- Managing Key Employment Law Risks
- Ethics in Arbitration
- Preparing Documents and Correcting Mistakes
- Workplace Investigations
- Dealing with Pension and Benefit Plan Challenges
- Effective Document Management
In addition to providing valuable information for in-house counsel, our seminars were accredited, giving participants a chance to obtain their mandatory hours before the year-end deadline.
Here is what some of our clients had to say:
- “[I was] impressed with both the quality and the investment of time made by the firm and the presenters. [I], as well as several others [I spoke] with, had been wondering what they were going to do to fulfill their requirements and the firm's presentation saved the day. “
- “Congratulations!”
- “Thank you so much for making it so easy and enjoyable. I learned a lot…a small-town practice like mine is fraught with pitfalls and it's wonderful to know that there may actually be a way to correct some of them. I really enjoyed meeting (and hearing from) Mr. Justice Bowman…He is clearly well-valued and respected in your firm.”
Due to the overwhelming success of the inaugural CPD Bootcamp, planning for the next CPD Bootcamp is underway. Stay tuned for more details!
