Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (FMC), one of Canada’s leading business and litigation law firms, is pleased to welcome three new Calgary partners, Don Leitch, Q.C.Barbara Johnston and Cameron Hughes.

Don Leitch, Q.C., joins FMC as a senior member of the firm’s Securities Group. He brings more than 30 years’ experience in corporate finance of public and private companies of all sizes, private investment funds, limited partnership structures, public mutual funds and representing investment dealers and special committees. Don is also a senior oil & gas solicitor representing domestic and foreign interests.

“Don’s background and skill set make him a perfect fit for FMC,” said Matthew Lindsay, Managing Partner, FMC Calgary. “His experience will be a tremendous asset, complementing the firm’s existing securities and M&A strength within the Calgary market and across the country.”

FMC is also delighted to welcome Barbara Johnston back to the firm where she began her legal career. She has re-joined FMC as a senior member of and national co-chair of the firm’s Employment & Labour Group. Her practice encompasses all aspects of labour, employment, human rights, constitutional and privacy law. Barbara was recognized in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory 2011 as a leading practitioner in the area of Workplace Human Rights (management), the 2009 Lexpert Guide to the Leading U.S./Canada Cross-border Litigation Lawyers in Canada and in Lexpert’s 2008 Guide to the Leading Lawyers Under 40. She is the former chair of the Canadian Bar Association’s Privacy Law Section, Labour and Employment Law Subsection and Constitutional Law Section (Southern Alberta).

“We are very pleased Barb has returned to FMC,” said Mr. Lindsay. “She is an exceptional lawyer well known to our clients, and she is a leader in her field locally and nationally. Her skill and ability is a great complement to our strong Alberta labour, employment and constitutional practice. We are delighted that she is returning home.

Additionally, Cameron Hughes has joined FMC as a partner in the firm’s Energy Group. He brings more than 15 years’ experience with energy clients and was named one of Lexpert’s Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40 in 2010. His background includes commodity trading and energy derivatives, wholesale and retail energy markets, and mergers and acquisitions in all aspects of the energy business.

“Cameron is a great addition to our energy team,” said Mr. Lindsay. “His personal and professional relationships in the industry are strong.”

Adding Don, Barb and Cameron demonstrates that FMC continues to attract outstanding professionals to service all our clients’ legal requirements. This is another important step in continuing to build FMC’s talented workforce and FMC’s thriving Alberta practice.
