FMC honoured with Platinum-level 2010 Lexpert Zenith Award: Celebrating Pro Bono for exemplary pro bono service
September 29 2010
On Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at a gala dinner and awards presentation honouring exemplary pro bono service, Chris Pinnington, Chief Executive Officer of Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (FMC), proudly accepted our Platinum-level 2010 Lexpert Zenith Award: Celebrating Pro Bono in the “Political Pro Bono” category.

As the highest in its category, this Platinum-level honour was bestowed upon FMC in recognition of our successful representation of Oshawa grandparents before the Social Benefits Tribunal in their appeal to reinstate benefits under the Ontario Works Act for their grandson’s care. This award reinforces not only our firm’s commitment to provide pro bono legal services and support for individuals and organizations with limited means, but also the desire of our professionals to make a long-lasting and positive impact on the communities where we practise.

In light of this achievement, we are proud to congratulate Doug Stewart, whose hard work, determination and excellent advocacy led to the successful outcome in this important case, which is expected to have far-reaching implications for other grandparents in similar circumstances. For more information on this success, please read the official press release, which also includes corresponding media coverage items.

Giving back to the community through pro bono work has always been fundamental to our firm's culture. We honour FMC members in all offices who have participated in and supported our firm’s pro bono work, which you will find summarized on the Pro Bono page.
