Michael Wunder LL.B., Partner

Michael practises with both Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP’s Financial Services Group and Insolvency and Restructuring Group with a broad range of experience in all facets of (a) commercial and corporate domestic and cross-border lending transactions, including secured and unsecured loan transactions, asset-based lending and intercreditor and subordination arrangements, and (b) domestic and cross-border commercial restructurings, receiverships and enforcement of rights for secured and unsecured creditors. Michael has practised in the Financial Services Group and Insolvency and Restructuring Group at FMC for over 20 years.

Michael is very active in cross-border matters, serves as co-chair of the Firm’s Chicago cross-border initiative, and is regularly retained to assist clients in Chicago, New York and other major U.S. financial centres. Michael is also the Vice-Chair of the Cross-Border Lending Sub-Committee of the American Bar Association's Commercial Finance Section.

Michael has extensive experience having acted as counsel for secured and unsecured creditors, bank/lender syndicates, corporate debtors, creditor committees and bondholder groups and major trade creditors of insolvent entities, in both domestic and cross-border insolvency and restructuring transactions. Michael also has experience in representing CCAA monitors and receivers in insolvency proceedings.

Michael has over 20 years experience acting on behalf of Canadian and foreign financial institution clients and foreign law firms in single lender and lending syndicate secured and unsecured financings. His experience extends to a significant number of Canada-U.S. cross-border multi-currency transactions, acquisition financings and asset based lending. Michael is a trusted advisor to his lending clients, giving them strategic counsel on structuring and documenting complex financing transactions.
