Michel A. Brunet LL.L., Chair

With more than 30 years of experience in corporate and commercial law and in-depth expertise in securities law, Michel has recognized expertise in public offering, public financings, major infrastructure projects as well as in the sale and acquisition of business corporations, specifically in international transactions. In this context, Michel acted as counsel to many public, state-owned and private corporations in various areas, including institutional fund management, energy, manufacturing, commercial, financial services and brokerage, and to foreign companies with respect to their establishment or acquisition projects in Canada. He also acted for the Autorité des marchés financiers and the Department of Justice (Quebec) as their delegate at the Hague Conference in connection with the negotiations of an international treaty on the settlement of transactions involving intermediated securities. A considerable portion of Michel's practice involves coordinating legal services for a number of the firm's major clients.

Michel has held several high management positions with Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP, including Managing Partner of the Montreal office and National Chief Executive Officer.  Michel is currently the Chair of the firm, a position he has held since 2006.  As Chair, Michel’s role is to represent the firm externally with clients, the community and the public at large.
