David has extensive experience in all aspects of municipal and administrative law as a result of his long-established law practice and his many years of distinguished public service. David has acted for commercial, residential and institutional clients on development matters such as rezoning and official plan amendments. He has counseled clients on working their way through the municipal and provincial approval process, and he has also acted on appeals to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB). David has acted professionally on many of the largest development projects in the Metro Toronto area.
David served in the House of Commons and was a federal cabinet minister. He was also a member of both Toronto City Council and Metro Council prior to his election as an M.P. David currently also serves as the National Campaign Co-chair for the Liberal Party of Canada. David served as Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP’s Chairman from January 1994 to September 2002, and became Counsel to the firm shortly after his appointment to the Senate. In addition to his Senate duties, David maintains an office in FMC’s Toronto offices.
