Christopher is located at our Ottawa office and is the National head of the firm’s International Trade Group. He has been involved in a large number of the highest profile international trade disputes of the past decade, including Softwood Lumber, Steel, Appliances, Sugar, Laminate Flooring and Tobacco.

Chris is listed in the Legal Media Group’s Guide to the World’s Leading International Trade Lawyers and in The Best Lawyers in Canada for 2007, 2008 and 2009 as a recommended lawyer in international trade law. He is also among a small number of Canadian trade lawyers to receive a prestigious "Tier 1" ranking by Chambers Global World’s Leading Lawyers for Business. He has an extensive record of appearances in trade matters involving the Canadian Border Services Agency, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, the Federal Court of Canada, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. International Trade Commission, the U.S. Court of International Trade, Binational Panels under Chapters 19 and 20 of the North American Free Trade Agreement, as well as Core Legal Groups convened by the Canadian government in World Trade Organization dispute resolution proceedings. He has also represented and advised clients with respect to matters across the spectrum of international trade law, including customs matters, export and import controls issues, as well as market access and market protection issues under the WTO, NAFTA and other regional and bilateral trade agreements.

Chris is the co-author of the Canadian Competition Law Handbook and he served as a sessional lecturer in competition law at Queen’s University between 1998 and 2002. He has also advised clients on various aspects of Canada’s Competition Act and has represented clients in numerous merger reviews and other matters with the Competition Bureau and in judicial proceedings.

Chris is a member of the Executive Committee of the International Bar Association’s Trade and Customs Committee and a member of the Canadian Bar Association’s International Trade and Investment Committee.
