We are pleased to announce that on Thursday, April 2, 2009, Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (FMC) was named one of Canada’s Best Employers for New Canadians for 2009.

Funded by the Government of Canada's Foreign Credential Recognition Program, and managed by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers, the Best Employers for New Canadians competition is a special designation that recognizes the nation's best employers for recent immigrants. These winning employers offer programs to assist new Canadians in making the transition to a new workplace and a new life in Canada.

This accomplishment was featured in the Toronto Star in the Business & Careers Section, along with an article about FMC’s involvement in two innovative programs geared toward foreign-trained legal professionals. In addition to this coverage, three FMC employees are featured on the website for the Best Employers for New Canadians 2009.

The TRIEC Mentorship Program and the Legal Internship Program, are designed to help newcomers make professional contacts and gain Canadian work experience while they are in the process of getting their foreign credentials recognized. As a firm, mentoring skilled immigrants exemplifies FMC’s commitment to fostering a diverse work culture without barriers, something that is fundamental to our clients.

Diversity and inclusiveness continue to be an integral part of our firm’s culture and National Strategic Plan, and we believe that people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds are needed to bring fresh perspectives, innovation and depth to an organization, and our involvement with these programs expands on this belief.

FMC was also featured in National Post for the firm’s commitment to Diversity.  To read more, click here.
