Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (FMC) continues to build its diversity platform by paving the way in immigrant mentoring and internship programs.
Shortly after the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC)’s announcement that FMC had been named the first law firm to be recognized as a corporate partner of TRIEC’s Mentoring Partnership program, several firm members have been matched up through the program as mentors.
The emphasis of the Mentoring Partnership program is to provide skilled immigrants with an easier transition and to mitigate the daunting task of settling in a new country through knowledge dissemination and other guidance from established industry professionals. FMC has also extended its commitment to the program through pro bono work on TRIEC’s incorporation.
In Robert Todd’s article “FMC Leads the Way in Immigrant Mentoring Program” appearing in the Law Times on December 29, 2008, Elizabeth McIsaac, TRIEC’s executive director, praises FMC’s hard work and expresses admiration for FMC’s leadership and affinity to the program. FMC partner, Michael Schafler, also extensively discusses FMC’s motivations for getting involved with TRIEC. Click here to read Robert Todd’s article.
