Close to 200 FMC lawyers and staff put on red t-shirts and gathered outside Fifth Avenue Place in downtown Calgary to create a giant human hand representing the United Way’s “Caught Red Handed” campaign logo. The gathering marked the launch of FMC Calgary’s annual United Way fundraising week. Every year, the Calgary office's articling students organize a week of innovative activities to encourage lawyers and staff to get involved in the cause.
Barb Higgins, CTV anchor person and Co-Chair of the Calgary United Way, joined Matt Lindsay, Managing Partner, FMC Calgary, and Quincy Smith, FMC Partner and former Co-Chair of the Calgary United Way, at the kick-off event. A number of senior representatives from the United Way were also on hand. Local media took part by perching high on top of several surrounding buildings to get an aerial view of the display.
In addition to providing Pro Bono legal support for the United Way across the country, FMC lawyers and staff actively raise interest and awareness for the organization through creative fundraising campaigns.
