YOUR CAREER DEVELOPMENT
We take our roles as mentors very seriously. This means that firm members will provide you with exposure to as many aspects of the practice of law as possible. In particular, your principal will be a key member of your mentorship team.
Regular lunch seminars will provide you with continuing legal education on a number of substantive legal issues or practice-oriented matters. Lawyers lead the presentations and discussions, and guests from the community are sometimes invited to speak on current issues. Our FMC University program, open to students and lawyers of the firm, focuses on the practical side of law with emphasis on business development, marketing and networking skills.
You are encouraged to engage all lawyers at the firm in informal discussions about your articles throughout the year. Daily feedback is augmented with formal reviews to provide you with constructive input on your professional development.
PRO BONO OPPORTUNITES
FMC is committed to providing pro bono legal services to individuals and organizations who cannot afford a lawyer. We offer our students and lawyers a wide range of pro bono opportunities to develop their skills while contributing to our community.
OUR HIREBACK POLICY
At FMC, we make it our practice to only take on as many summer students as we can realistically hireback for articles, and as many articling students as we can take on as associates.
