The Canadian Competition Record (the "Record") is Canada's only periodical devoted to competition law and policy developments. The Record was founded in 1980 and has been published by Fraser Milner Casgrain Legal Publications Inc. since 1986. The 17-member Editorial Board of the Record is comprised of leading competition law practitioners, including four former Commissioners of Competition, and economists specializing in the area of competition law economics.
The Record provides analysis and insight on all major decisions and policy developments under Canada's competition legislation, the Competition Act. It also examines a range of other economic regulatory policies of the federal and provincial governments, particularly in the field of trade. Further, important international developments in competition and trade law are also reviewed in the Record.
The Record provides valuable information and analysis on issues of importance and interest in the competition law area. These issues include the prosecution of criminal offences such as conspiracy and illegal marketing and distribution practices and resulting civil actions for damages; applications to the Canadian Competition Tribunal relating to restrictive trade practices such as refusal to deal and abuse of dominant position; and the regulation of mergers and acquisitions. The developing jurisprudence of the courts and of the Competition Tribunal has important implications for the conduct of business in Canada. The Record covers these and other topics both in terms of current developments and from a more in-depth and analytical perspective.
The Record has established a wide readership among lawyers, economists, university professors, business executives and senior government officials. It has earned a well-deserved reputation for timely and objective reporting on important competition law and related regulatory developments.
The Record is published at a subscription price of Cdn. $250 per Volume of four issues. The price for academics and academic institutions is Cdn. $125.
